Upcoming Python Changes

As part of our ongoing updates to the ActiveState Platform, we regularly make new versions of a language available following their release by the community. Similarly, as the community ends support for, or makes a version of the language EOL, it may be removed from the Platform, or else made available only for paid tiers.

The following additions and changes to the ActiveState catalog are planned to be implemented on or about October 15, 2024:

  • Language Python 3.13.0 will be available for all tiers (new addition)
  • Language Python 3.12.7 will be available for all tiers (new addition)
  • Language Python 3.12.6 will be available for business and enterprise tiers (change)
  • Language Python 3.12.5 will be available for business and enterprise tiers (change)
  • Language Python 3.11.10 will be the RECOMMENDED version for all tiers (change)

Notes:

  • If you are on the free tier, your existing projects based on Python 3.12.6.and 3.12.5 will continue to work, as usual. However, you will be unable to select Python 3.12.6 or 3.12.5 when creating new Python projects.
  • As the recommended version of Python, Python 3.11.10 is the best choice for ensuring that the packages you require will build. While packages will build on all versions of Python in the ActiveState catalog, the majority of testing, as well as the target for new package builds will be Python 3.11.10 going forward.
