Build Error: pygtk 2.24.0 for Python 3.8.2 on Windows

Looking for help with this package that is failing to build in my project.

Runtime Details

  • ActiveState
  • Language - python 3.8.2
  • Platform - Windows

Failing Packages

  • pygtk 2.24.0

Reasons

  • Build failures: PyGTK
  • Test failures: PyGTK

I added pygobject and it installed successfully, i dont know what happened here.

Hi Shaun,

There are some packages that require custom work to get them to work on our platform (i.e. they may fail build or test steps). I’ll check with build engineering to see if it is something straight-forward. If it is heavily involved it will go into the queue longer term to enhance for the platform.

After looking into it this requires GTK3 and we don’t have support for that on the platform as yet.

When you say “as yet”. Is that a definite it will be supported later on?

It will be supported later on as we have had requests for this prior, however, it is not imminent, as there are many more popular items higher up the list. I can’t provide an ETA, however anyone else that has GTK needs, should definitely raise their hand in this ticket so I can get enough demand to increase its priority.
