I have been using Perl since the mid 90’s, on a Mac and Windows, version 4. Work projects included analyzing program output to detect unexpected changes and for general scripting as Perl is multi platform and much more powerful than Windows bat commands. Since retirement, I have been using Perl in the management of GIS data as a volunteer for an Appalachian Trail maintaining club. I have more recently started using Python for producing high quality elevation profiles of the AT using MatPlotlib.
