What are they called and how to switch between them?--the two views of HTML code: the complex, dense one with all the "" etc clutter, and the streamlined one that is easier to edit?

Find & Highlight Word under Cursor / Selection

What it does:

Another quick and dirty macro which lets you highlight all occurrences of a given word (or the active selection) with just one click.

Prerequisites

None, just follow the install routine below.

How to Install?

Make you you've got the latest Komodo Edit/IDE installed first. Then simply drag & drop the attachment below inside your Toolbox. Restart Komodo for changes to take effect.
Open any file and Alt + Left mouse click on any word. This will highlight all occurrences of the given word within the document (you can use F3/Shift+F3 to navigate between matches).
You can also Alt + Left mouse click, drag & release mouse button to search for the selected text.

Known Issues & Limitations

You need to make sure highlighting is enabled under Preferences

I am a Perl and PDK newbie. When I create an EXE with the PDK, how do I get the file(s) that are dragged and dropped onto the EXE. In other words, I want to process these files inside my Perl script. Any advice or pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Format CSS Block macro

What it does:

Another quick and dirty macro which takes something like this:

Bring up a CSS buffer and press Ctrl+M, Ctrl+C inside a CSS block (between { and }) to trigger.

Known Issues & Limitations

The macro works in CSS documents only. It cannot operate on CSS regions within another language (HTML, PHP, etc.)
If the cursor is placed immediately before the closing }, the macro will report an error. Simply move one position back and try again.
Multiple blocks cannot be formatted at the same time
Most CSS hacks are not supported probably - *property-name works however

Help needed, please! I am a novice and I have a problem...

I am not a HTML programmer, but I have a website that the right side scrollbar does not work. The page only scrolls when I use the mouse rollerball.

Is there anyone who has HTML code that activates a right side vertical scrollbar?
The site is www.neweconinvestor.com, if that helps.

search directories for find-in-files

I have just started using Komodo, and every day become more impressed!

I use find-in-files a lot, on files located throughout the file system. Something I really need is for the find-in-files target directory to default to the directory of the "current" file (the one in the tab with the focus). I can't find anyway to set that option. Is there a way to do this in Komodo?

I'm trying to use Komodo IDE for javascript development because it provides a good code browser. I had 4.4 and I am now evaluating 5.1 However I'm currently not being able to use neither of them because I'm developing with YUI2 and 3 and here the preferred syntax is like shown below:

With this coding style Komodo is not providing any insight into the code.

To see anything I need to remove the last 2 lines and the first 11. But of course I cannot run this code on a server and would have to add/remove comments all the time.

Do you have a solution to this problem? Or do you expect to be able to support this syntax in a future release?

Firstly let me say that Komodo is a really great product. It has a nice UI, lots of features - it's one of the only free products on linux that supports calltips for PHP well and it's very fast. There are a few things it sorely lacks though that, although small, can be quite irritating.

1. Horizontal scrollbar in sidepanes (bug 56328).
There was a post on here somewhere about it happening 'in 6 months' that was written 2 years ago. When you go several folders deep in the sidepane - or have files with long names, they all get truncated unless you make the panel wider which can be quite annoying. Which brings me to number 2.

2. File tree list - both local and remote
I'm aware these can be added with addons but they should be in the vanilla build. They're pretty essentials. File tree lists are the best example of the above problem occurring. I don't want to create an individual project for every site i work on, i just want to navigate to it in the file tree. This should be similar to the way the Dreamweaver one works - folders at the top, files below. In a single panel instead of two seperate ones the way the Remote Drive Tree plugin works.

3. What's with the insanely fast scrolling?
If i scroll up and down it goes super fast - way faster than any other text editor. What's with that? I checked the preferences and didn't see an option to slow it down. I'm not talking about the drag-scroll speed which was an old problem i spotted in other posts on this forum - apparently that ones been fixed.

4. More options in right click menu on tabs
'Close all but me'. Enough said. I've checked the extensions but couldn't find a useful one to do this. In addition being able to right click on the tab bar and having an 'Open files...' dialogue would be nice.

5. Auto-colouring of HTML, PHP, CSS, JS in the same file
I'm aware it's bad practice to have them on the same page but it's definately convenient - especially when dynamically generating parts of it. If i have a script tag, everything inside that script tag should automatically be coloured using hte Javascript preferences. If i have <?php or <?= tags, it should be PHP colours. Everything outside should be HTML colours for a .php, .html etc file.

6. Being able to drag multiple files into Komoto at the same time
I've noticed you can only drag a single file into Komodo at a time to open it.
This is restrictive and isn't the case with any other editor.

7. HTML tag-specific colouring
OK, so this one isn't essential but would be nice and handy. In Dreamweaver forms appear in orange and tables in green. It just makes stuff easier to see.

While all these features (bar number 5) are relatively small and simple problems, they're detrimental to the overall experience when using Komodo. If these were implimented you'd have a product that could easily rival the best of them.
