Different encodings for projects

Hi,

i use different encodings in my projects.

e.g.
project1 -> ISO-8859-1
project2 -> UTF-8

a.s.o.

Is there a way to make this setting globaly so the files will get this encoding when new files are created?

I know the way over internalisation and file preferences but the first is a setting for Komodo in general an the second for the files. I want to do this for a project.

In Aptana this is solved very good. You can do this in the workspace settings.

Best regards and thanks for help.

Ünal

new user question

Hi guys,
Just tried out Komodo Edit, I have to say I'm impressed.
I have been a notepad++ user for quite sometime now and how grown accustomed to some of the plugins, one in particular the Function List plugin. Is there a similar extension for Komodo which does the same thing as that particular plugin for notepad++? I looked over the extensions earlier, didnt see any or I might have missed it.

Tab width setting not working?

Hello,

I set the "Width of each tab character" to "4" (default "8") from Edit -> Preferences -> Editor -> Indentation, but when I typed in Tab, it gave me two arrows with width of 4, instead of one like this:

--->--->

and not what I expected:

--->

Then, for testing, I set this value to "2", which gave me this (4 arrows w/ width of 2):

->->->->->->->->

It looks like that, no matter how I configured, it still give me the total length of 8.

What's funnier is that these multiple arrows are regarded as one tab.

How can I set the physical tab width to "4" then?

Thank you in advance.

Cleanup Trailing Whitespace

Just thought I would share a macro I put together that cleans up trailing white space. It will be applied to the current selection if there is one, otherwise it will apply itself to the entire document.

Also, for anyone else trying to modify the current selection, there are a couple of handy methods in this macro. They handle extracting the relevant text and maintaining the current selection, which is the tricky part.

The methods in there are:

// Applies the given callback to the currently selected text
function applyToSelection ( expand, callback )

// Applies a callback to the entire document
function applyToDocument ( callback )

// Applies a callback to the currently in scope text
function applyToScopedText ( expand, callback )

Obviously, these methods accept a callback. They give it the text you want to operate on and use the return value as the replacement.

The extent of the whitespace replacement script is simply this:

applyToScopedText( true, function (text) {
   return text.replace(/[ \t]+$/mg, '');
} );

I needed another macro that swapped single quotes for double quotes, and vice-versa, and it was easy to implement with the same helper functions:

applyToSelection( true, function (text) {
   return text.replace(
      /['"]/g,
      function ( input ) {
         return input == '"' ? "'" : '"';
      }
   );
} );

PHP autocomplete fails for Exception class while inside a catch clause

When inside a catch clause, autocomplete on the passed Exception class object does not seem to work. But if I explicitly instantiate an exception object inside the catch clause, autocomplete will work for that object, just not for the caught exception object.

The error in the status bar at the time autocomplete should be occurring is:

evaluating 'e' at course_data.php#103: could not resolve first part of 'e' (error determining completions)

<?php
try
{
   $for_xml = init_data();
   xml_out($for_xml);
}

catch ( Exception $e )
{
   echo $e-> // No autocomplete; status bar gives an error
}

Komodo Edit 5.2 cannot save files on SMB shares

Hello.

I'm trying to use Komodo Edit 5.2 (Linux/x86_64 on Ubuntu 9.10) and I have my files on a mounted CIFS share. I can access and write the files on the command line, but in Komodo I get "There was an error attempting to save '': No such file or directory".

Can anyone give me a pointer here?

Thanks,

can't save project

Hello!

I've found a bug in komodo.
Course of this problem I had to reinstall komodo.

Steps to reproduce:
- create new project and place it into directory with files
- open window "Project properties and settings" trough pop-up menu
- go to "Languages > Perl" page
- add project root directory to "Additional perl import directories" list (if it can't be added directly, just go one directory level up and then return to project root)

Result:
Button "OK" in "Project propeties and settings" doesn't work any more,
for this project and for ANY others.

Closing projects, restarting komodo can't fix this problem.
So, I have to delete komodo install directory and reinstall komodo into ANOTHER directory.

Komodo version:
Komodo IDE, version 5.2.2, build 35694, platform linux-libcpp6-x86

OS:
Kubuntu 9.10 (2.6.31-14-generic)

Error message from log:

[2009-11-20 17:59:03,612] [ERROR] prefs:
