when i tried to install activeperl on my Debian 7 box I received the following error: "perl/bin/perl: 1: perl/bin/perl: Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string"

Please advise how to fix.

Try forcing it to use bash or mksh instead.

Almost the same problem with Debian 9 (32 bits) on virtual box. ActivePerl 5.24. Using bash doesnt change anything. Can this be due to the absence of current directory in @INC? Perl 5.24.1 build for i686-linux-gnu-thread-multi64int
1: perl/bin/perl: ELF ### not found
4: perl/bin/perl: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

### - goes as unknown symbols.
