ActiveTcl8.6.0.0b5 procedure entry point freeaddrinfo could not be located...

When loading the installer for the ActiveTCL 8.6 beta I get this error:

"The procedure entry point freeaddrinfo could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll"

ActiveTcl8.6.0.0b5.294318-win32-ix86-threaded.exe

Any ideas?

You are likely running on an older and unsupported version of Windows.

That's strange, the earlier binary releases of 8.6 have worked fine. So is TCL/TK no longer supporting older windows platforms or do I just have to build my own binaries?

The 8.6 core has dropped support for older versions of Windows for many reasons. I suspect the one you are hitting is for the new IPv6 support.

If you are using an older machine, just use an older version of Tcl.
