8.5 tcl with mac

I installed python 3.2 on my macintosh. To make Idle work I needed to install Activestate TCl, and I chose version 8.5. Now when I call IDLE-python 2.6 from terminal it crashes when I try to open a new window in IDLE. Any solutions?

It may be that you are mixing a "universal" i386/ppc binary with an intel i386/x86_64 build. Our latest ActiveTcl and ActivePython builds are all the latter, but older versions were the former. You can determine which they are by running 'file /path/to/framework/binary'. They need to be binary compatible.

In France we can't use IDLE 3.2 as the ~ char among others is not available. When typing "Alt-space n" which should provide ~, the cursor goes on top of buffer instead of displaying a char. This bug is annoying and last for many MONTHS ! Please !!!
