Unable to access zip files of modules?

Hello, world! :p

I'm working at a client site that has strong firewall settings. I went to http://ppm.activestate.com/PPMPackages/zips/ in order to download some modules and load them into PPM manually.

When the page loads (Firefox 3.6.2) I am presented with a data entry dialog box that says 'A username and password are being requested by http://ppm4-be.activestate.com. The site says: "ActiveState Business Edition"'.

Any ideas?

It's been a few months since I've had to use the zip files, so I'm not sure if anything has changed. I saw no notices on the web anywhere but could have missed it.

Why would ABE have an impact on the zip files access? Is it asking for my normal account and password? I'm loathe to just type them in as the dialog box didn't look, um, "polished" shall we say.

Thanks in advance.

The zip file repository is now only available with Business Edition subscriptions, but this isn't necessarily a barrier. The zip files have been superseded by "PPMX" packages, which are archives that ppm can open and install directly.

You can download these packages from:

Just browse to the package you want, and download the file for your platform (mouse-over the icon for the details) from the PPMX column.

I just tried the link that you posted and I'm still getting the dialog for username/password Business Edition. Are we now not able to even download the ppmx versions without paying for a Business Edition?

I'm guessing you're attempting to download Solaris modules.

The Solaris repositories (as well as HP-UX, and AIX, if and when we build them) will always require Business Edition, because all Solaris ActivePerls now require Business Edition. Platforms for which a Community Edition version exists (Linux, Windows, OS X) will not require a Business Edition license to download PPMX files.

I also have the same problem as above. I'm trying to dowmload the Windows 64bit version.
There is not a lock icon just a green circle check and I get prompted for a user ID and password.

Any help would be apreciated.
