PPM4 shows zero packages on local repository

I've upgraded to 5.8.8 build 822 and with that I got PPM4. When I try to add my local repository it shows it as having zero packages, even though the files are there and it used to work with PPM3.

I found a posting that PPM4 requires package.xml (is this true? it seems to go thru the PPD files in other repositories like roth). How do I make my local repository and its packages available for PPM4?

thanks.

You can still use individual local files by specifying the path on the command line, as follows:

Install the package by specifying the ppd file directly:
ppm install c:\tmp\module-name.ppd

package.xml files are required if you wish to have a multi-file repository. package.xml works like an index. If you don't have one, each file has to be referenced individually. An example package.xml is visible here:
