I'm trying to run PPM from the Start menu (the one that Perl created during installation), and when I type:

ppm>search X12

I'm getting the following error:

Searching in Active Repositories
can't read c:\perl\site\5.8.3\lib/ppm-conf/ppm.cfg: No such file or directory at c:/Perl/site/lib/PPM/Config.pm line 33.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at c:\perl\site\lib\ppm-conf\ppminst.bat line 666.
Error: connect: Unknown error

I also get the following error:

C:\Perl\bin>ppm
Error: neither 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ActiveState/PPM//InstallLocation' nor 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/ActiveState/PPM//InstallLocation' found in registry at ppm.bat line 29.

when I run ppm.bat

Please help!

What Windows version are you on? It doesn't look like ActivePerl 813 has installed correctly. If you are on Vista, 2K8, or even XP SP3 you should be using something much newer than 813. It's also possible that your problems are the result of using the AS(zip file)installer instead of the .msi installer.
