New Tcl Dev Kit debugger slow

Posted by anders_ on 2009-05-04 04:32

I upgraded from TDK 3.2 to TDK 5 (and Tcl/Tk 8.5) recently. When running my quite large application in the new debugger it is very very slow. At least 10 times slower than with the old debugger (TDK 3.2 and Tcl/Tk 8.4).

Looking in the Windows Task Manager/Processes, the tclchecker.exe is using 100% of one of the processors plus up to 60 MB of memory for a looong time, until it releases and I can step a few more code lines before it starts over again.

I do not have any uncommon project settings to my knowledge.

Can anybody pls advise?

It sounds like the checker, which is invoked as a subprocess of the debugger in the newer version to show warnings/errors in the displayed code, is running wild on some code. Please create a bug at http://bugs.activestate.com and attach the code there, or contact support directly if the code should not be made public, and we will look into correcting this runaway bug.
