Komodo Edit - panels and indentation

Posted by loggy on 2009-11-02 04:15

I have only just found KE and it is an impressive tool. I particularly like the remote editing facility and the auto-indentation.

Previously I have used Kate on Linux and UltraEdit on Windows - which is excellent - and I have tried UE on Linux but that still lacks a few features.

There are a couple of KE issues -

1) How can I panel a number of files that are open at the same time? ie have a number of windows within the KE window that show each or some files? I can switch using tabs and there is a way to get a few vertical panels open although there is no Cascade or Arrange Vertical/Horizontal on the Window drop-down.

2) The instructions for setting the indentation don't tie up with my copy of KE-5.2 installed on Kubuntu 8.04 LTS i386. There is no Edit>Preferences>Indentation tab. I can alter each file as it loads manually and this works OK but I would rather set a policy.

Some hopefully clear answers:

1. There is no way to get Komodo to split the view of a file into more than two parts. To split a file, go to the Window menu and select 'Split view'. To alternate between horizontal and vertical orientations of the split view, go to the Window menu again and select 'Rotate tab groups'.

2. The global indentation settings are in the Preferences dialog:
* click on the edit menu and select 'Prefernces'
* in the preferences dialog on the left-hand side, select 'Editor' / 'Indentation'.

I hope that makes sense, I'm on a mac currently, so the menus are from memory.
