x86-64 has been around for 5 years now, ever since the Opteron was introduced in 2003, and the majority of Linux distributions come in 64-bit editions with practically all of programs being 64-bit native, including the Mozilla library which Komodo is based on. Isn't it about time to compile Komodo directly to x86-64 as well, so loading a zillion 32-bit compatibility libraries isn't necessary just to run it?
Windows 64-bit is taking off as well, but there it's less of an issue as the 32-bit compatibility libraries are loaded by default and (sadly) most programs are not yet available for that platform yet in native 64-bit varieties.
(BTW, great job making Komodo, kudos on open-sourcing its base, and keep up the good work!)
We are looking in this. You may want to add yourself to the CC-list of the following bug report and you'll be notified on any progress:

I made a new e-mail account (so my main one wouldn't be spammed, seeing as how the bug database is public) and subscribed to the bug. Thanks for looking into it, and I hope that something will come of it soon!
Any new development on this?
Heh, I'll quietly let slip a secret. Check the latest nightly trunk builds for "x86_64":

It looks like 64-bit linux builds will be available with the Komodo 5.1.0 release.
Cheers,
Todd
Yeah, I saw that too as I was subscribed to the bug.
Lol, talk about timing :)
Is it possible to build nativ x64 version of Komodo for Snow Leopard?
Not for a while yet. The Mozilla folks are currently working on making Firefox/XulRunner Mac 64-bit compatible (maybe Firefox 3.6 or 3.7), after their work is done, Komodo can begin the task of getting 64-bit Mac builds (this is likely 1 year away).
