I use OpenKomodo on OS-X Leopard. My installation just notified me an update was available (5.1.3) and offered to download and install it. No problems were reported during the download or install, yet when I clicked on the "restart Komodo" choice, nothing happened. I tried to start it manually, still nothing happened. Restarted the Mac, still Open Komodo won't start.
The update has killed my existing installation. I'm sure I can get it going again by reinstalling it from scratch, but this "upgrade" process needs to get fixed or removed completely.
Looking over the logs, perhaps this entry is where it went wrong:
5/4/09 12:19:24 AM [0x0-0x111111].com.activestate.Komodo[1037] SciMoz was not closed correctly before destructor called.
From that point forward, all I see in the logs is:
5/4/09 12:19:43 AM com.apple.launchd[97] ([0x0-0x115115].com.activestate.Komodo[1091]) Exited with exit code: 1

Hi Joe,
The Komodo 5.1.3 update does take a while to unpack and install itself, did you see the "Updating Komodo" progress bar after choosing to "Restart Komodo"?
I have not seen any similar problems with the updater on Mac OS X, this could be a one-off, though we would still like to find out why this occurred.
Is there anything particular with your Komodo installation, such as:
* installed Komodo as an admin, and performing the update as a normal user?
* installed to a different hard drive/mount point
Note: You can re-install by downloading the Komodo releases directly from:
http://downloads.activestate.com/Komodo/releases/
Thanks,
Todd
I had this issue too. I just updated as normal - there was nothing out of the ordinary. I was an admin user and installed it to exactly the same location. I tried downloading the DMG manually from the site - same issue.
I managed to fix it by deleting ~/Library/Application Support/Komodo Edit. I then launched it and it spent a while rebuilding the Code Intelligence DB but it now launches properly.
I am on OS X 10.5.6 (Intel) but I cannot remember the version of Komodo that I upgraded from.
Thanks for the tip. Same fix worked here as well.
Fix worked here as well... (problem started on second usage of 5.2.1, build 4108)
I did this in a way that preserved my preferences & history:
delete (or move/rename) ~/Library/Application Support/Komodo Edit/5.X/host-machinename
next time i started komodo, a fresh version of that folder was created, DB was rebuilt and everything is operating as expected, including my history i love so much
