Project panel scrollbars needed

Posted by Mark Tolman on 2007-05-24 21:25

I have several nested folders in my Project. I don't like to keep the left tab open very wide, but if I don't I can't read the contents of the folders. The text gets shortened with am ellipse added. I would rather have a horizontal scrollbar. How do I do this?

thanks
Mark

Unfortunately this is a limitation of the Mozilla architecture we use. The Project tree widget is a Mozilla XUL tree implementation, which does not yet support horizontal scrollbars. Mozilla/XUL treeview's are expected to support horizontal scrolling for Firefox 3 (around another 6 months), so you can also expect to see this roll into Komodo in roughly the same time frame.

I usually make use of the keyboard shortcuts to hide the project tab when un-needed, Ctrl-Shift-P is the keybinding for this.

Cheers,
Todd

The post about this happening 'in 6 months' was written 2 years ago. It's pretty dodgy that komodo still doesn't have a horizontal scrollbar (or even file tree by default) in the sidebars. You'd think it'd be pretty standard...if you go 5 folders deep suddenly no file is able to display its full name unless you increase the width of the panel which is really annoying.

Is there any word on whether this is ever going to happen?

We have a Komodo bug on this at present:

See the bug for the details of why this is not yet implemented.
