Komodo Feature Request(s)

I'm wondering where these should go (Feature Requests). Some folks like them tracked in their bug tracking software, some don't, so I thought I'd ask here.

The feature that I would like, is the ability to "store" my Toolbox "state" when I close Komodo.

By this, I mean that I have several folders with macros and clips now, and I would like certain ones open by default (since I use them frequently). If the application could save this state, it would make me a very happy camper! ;-)

---

The second one (less important), is that I really like the "Live Folders" in a project. There are times however when I would like... to be able to specify a "depth" of some kind.

e.g. I work on some large apps... but I am personally only concerned with say 3 or 4 folders, within the entire app... and within those, only a subset.

The ability to say.... "hide" a subfolder would be quite cool.

I'm probably not describing this well ;-)

Lets pretend that I have a file structure, that is locations... mapped down from a root called earth.

Earth:
 + North America
    + United States
       + New York
          + New York
             + Manhattan
 + Europe
    + United Kingdom
       + England
          + London
 + Austral Asia
    + Australia
       + Queensland
          + Brisbane

The full structure, contains everything, for every Country, down to the city... but I really only care about Manhattan, London, and Brisbane... but I'd like to see/have the directory structure, up to the root... such that if I want to expose "San Francisco" later, I can,... but I don't need to see all 50+ states, all the time.

As a workaround, I currently just add a regular folder for the top level items, then add a live folder, for the places I care about.

Anyway, just some thoughts ;-)

  • We generally prefer a bug / request enhancement, as it's easier to keep track of. After a quick look, there is one for remembering the state of projects (the toolbox is just a different type of project). Check:
    http://bugs.activestate.com/show_bug.cgi?id=28603
  • I can see the usefulness of such a feature, but not an easy way to implement and manage it. There is the project search textbox, which provides a quick way to see just one of the items, i.e. type "Brisbase" into the textbox and the tree structure for brisbane would show up but not the sub-elements. Perhaps some additional enhancements to this search feature would suffice, as an example search query "Manhattan>|London>|Brisbane>", where the "|" represents an "or" and the ">" represents to mean show all sub-elements. Anyway, please log a request for enhancement at:
    http://bugs.activestate.com/query.cgi?set_product=Komodo

Thanks,
Todd
