Hello,

I'm not sure I understood what your problem is. Are the files you open interpreted with the wrong character encoding (eg. your file is in ISO-8859-1 and it's opened as UTF-8)? Or are the files you open interpreted with the right character encoding, but you don't know how to save them with a different one?

Anyway, the options you might be looking for are not in Edit > Preferences > Fonts and colors > Fonts (these are for the Komodo Edit GUI). You may find them under:
1. Edit > Preferences > Internationalization
2. Edit > Current file settings > Properties

thanks, it was encoded with latin5-turkish (iso-8859-9) at a windows envionment, so when i open it, with default language which i use as english caused character problems..

i've done as you told and it works like a charm now :)
thank you so much, it's really much appreciated :)

I have been in the places you have mentioned and tried them one at time but didn't work!!!!!! It will encode Arabic characters as question marks.
Even though from Edit encoding places I am selecting the "Midle east" once but still not able to get working?

Hello,

Which encoding is the “current encoding”? When you open your file and go to Edit > Curent file settings, in Properties > File Settings you should see the current encoding, and be able to change it if needed.

I never work with Arabic characters, so I don't know what character encodings are used for Arabic. But you should be able to work with UTF-8 at least.

But, from my tests, Komodo doesn't seem to be able to work with right-to-left script. Other editors such as Gedit are ok, but Komodo doesn't seem able to do it. Or maybe it needs to work in a fully right-to-left environment (OS in Arabic, for instance)?
