I've created a simple example available from our subversion repository of how to move some of the tab UI in Komodo. Hopefully we can make this much easier in future releases, but for adventurous users, this could be a starting point for a more general purpose extension. This one moves the code browser, so will require IDE, but the concept is the same for Edit.
