ODBC Connection works on Command line, but not in Web Browser

I have a perl app that happily retrieves from a MS-SQL database when run on the command line. However, when I run it from a web browser nothing is displayed. It fails to connect to the database

It must be due to the browser not running as "my user" and running as the "web user", which does not have permission to connect. Where can I check this?

I feel that I'm really close. HELP:>

Many thanks in advance.

Just realized that /usr/bin/perl is a symbolic link.

Changed that to point to activeperl and all is well.

Problems with tls under solaris10/intel

This is noted at http://bugs.activestate.com/show_bug.cgi?id=75182 and is due to the openssl statically linked in having used AMD-specific code in its default build configuration.

Solaris is not supported by Komodo

You can not run the Komodo application on solaris, but you can debug the solaris perl code with Komodo through "remote debugging" (check the Komodo help for remote debugging details).

Remote debugging
Run Komodo on another machine (Windows/Mac/Linux) and then use remote debugging to connect the perl session on solaris to the IDE.

Editing solaris code
To do this you'll need to use the remote file support in Komodo (FTP, FTPS, SFTP, SCP) to open and edit files remotely.

Note: I have not tried to install Komodo on a Solaris x86 machine.

Cheers,
Todd

If not, what are the options - IDE/Editor - for this platform for PERL development?

>Could you cut and paste the

>Could you cut and paste the full shell output from trying to install?

Here it is:

-bash-3.00# ./install.sh
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./_install.py", line 33, in
import logging
ImportError: No module named logging
-bash-3.00#

>Is it possible that not all files were FTP'd to the solaris box?

As far as I can see everything copied across properly.

>Any reason to not FTP the .tar.gz package over
>and unpack it on the solaris box?

Only that I know how to do this in Windows and have all the tools set up. I'm a complete novice at Unix...

Thanks for your help.

Rowan,

Could you cut and paste the full shell output from trying to install? It is probably something straightforward.

Is it possible that not all files were FTP'd to the solaris box? Any reason to not FTP the .tar.gz package over and unpack it on the solaris box?

remote debugging?

Based on your use-case, do you think the remote debugging capabilities of Komodo would suffice? This is typically the case for users looking for Komodo on a platform ( like Solaris ) that isn't typically used as a desktop OS.

There is interest in Solaris x86

I was almost ready to get out my credit card an purchase Active Tcl Pro (Tcl Dev Kit + Komodo) until I realized it doesn't support Solaris x86. My application needs to run on Windows, Solaris SPARC and Solaris x86 and possibly Linux. I can do most of my development on Windows and then port it, but sometimes it's those strange OS-dependent bugs that I need to use a good debugging tool on in the native platform.

Please consider supporting Solaris 10 x86 because Sun has finally made it a user-friendly OS. If not, can you direct me to an competitor's Tcl/Tk tools?

Dropped Solaris SPARC platform support from Komodo 4.0?

Well, very nice to read this on the day we received our licenses for Komodo 4.0 without having been notified about this. Our main platform is Solaris 9 and I really would like that you reconsider this decision.

Or where exactly was it announced that support for Solaris will be dropped for Komodo 4.0?

SPARC only.

Komodo 3.5 is for Solaris SPARC architecture only. We do not currently support Solaris X86 and have no plans to do so currently. It is worth noting that we are actually dropping the Solaris SPARC platform from Komodo 4.0 due to lack of interest.

Not likely.

We have yet to support Solaris x86 and have not seen a lot of uptake for Solaris SPARC, so we have not released Komodo 4.0 Beta Builds for either of these platforms. We have yet to decide what the platform support picture will be for Komodo 4.0, but based on user feedback I don' think we will support Solaris at the time of release, and perhaps not at all.
