On Komodo IDE 4.4 on Mac

On Komodo IDE 4.4 on Mac OSX, the komodo command opens a new instance of the application rather than opening the file as a new tab in the already running instance. Bit of a shame, that would've been very handy. I often used Textmate from the command line.

For Komodo 5.x

For Komodo 5.x the path seems to be:

~/Library/Application Support/KomodoIDE/5.0/project-templates/My Templates

on OS X and I'm sure something similar of the other OSes. Note you may need to create the project-templates/My Templates directories.

re: python version

There is no way to access the DOM element (at least easily) that contains the output tab, so unless you can provide your python script the correct dom element (or scimoz element) then you cannot get write to it.

Yeah, from a stock OS X

Yeah, from a stock OS X installation you will of course need to create the bin directory in your user directory. Or you can really use *any* directory to create the symlink in as lng as that directory is on your PATH.

I have just posted the beginnings of an extension that ( initially ) improves autocomplete in Cake view scripts:

Extend your trial

I was told to login to activestate and extend my trial - this would reset the hostname the trial is tied to.

Also, my ~/Library/Application\ Support/ActiveState/ was owned by root.

Resetting ownership to be owned by my user enabled the trial licence to work.

I use a macro to open userdata directory into file manager

The code shown below if executed as macro shows userdata directory into the file manager

var currProfPath = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/file/directory_service;1"]
    .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIProperties)
    .get("PrefD", Components.interfaces.nsILocalFile)
    .path

Components.classes["@activestate.com/koSysUtils;1"]
    .getService(Components.interfaces.koISysUtils)
    .ShowFileInFileManager(currProfPath);

Tested under Linux and Windows

Test plans in a nutshell

0. Write some Python tests (I assume you've done that).

1. Put them in a Komodo project.

2. Right-click on the project: Test|Create New Test Plan

3. Test plan name: something like "Nose Test #1"
Language: Python - Nose
Directory: Directory containing the tests
Command Line Arguments:

   Press OK

4. Bring up the Test Results tab at the bottom, if it's not visible.

5. Select the test you created

6. Press the right-triangle, or menu item [Tools|Test|Run Current Test Plan]

7. You'll see structured output in Komodo.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

- Eric
