I have the same problem. I've just installed ActivePerl but I can't find it anywhere. It should be a quite trivial task but I'm not competent at all with such stuff. Please answer if you have any idea. thanks

cannot find activeperl

I am also new to Macs and have installed Activeperl but cannot find it.The installation guide says that it will be put in Users/Local path but this directory does not appear to exist on my Mac (Os X10.5.2).Maybe this is why the installation fails. It would be good if somebody could answer, im sure it is a simple problem.

problems with mac OS X installation

Hi,

By way of full disclosure, I am new to using a mac -- longtime windows user. I am trying to download ActivePerl 5.10 for MAC OS X. Everything seems to go fine, but I can't find ActivePerl in my applications area. I'm not sure I understand the documentation, but there seems to be something which suggests that the program is not actually installed in applications area, but rather down some kind of user branch. When I use Finder I can see that branch and I can find some ActivePerl stuff, but there is nothing that looks like an actual program (just stuff like the image file, etc.)

I tried downloading and installing another program (JGRASP) and was successful in getting it installed into my applications area. So, I am able to have some success in downloading and installing.

What should I do? Thanks.

are you trying to run 64bit perl on 32bit version of windows? You need x86 version.

Proxy?

I have seen situations where users behind a caching proxy server either on their network or at their ISP will keep getting a broken, cached copy of the file instead of the real file on our site. Did you generate an md5 string using the file you downloaded and compare it to the one on our ftp? Is it possible for you to try downloading using your home internet connection?

--
Downloading Active Perl

I also get a comment that the package cannot be opened. I have downloaded it from the FTP Server several times over the last day and continue to not be able to open Active Perl. I am running Windows XP. Are there settings that need to be changed to open the program?
