Are there command-line tools provided with an SDK that do these kinds of things? Specifically, the packaging bit, I think creating a stub descriptor file and shelling out to run the app should be pretty easy.

I prefer to work within Komodo for my regular development (JavaScript/HTML/CSS) but Aptana really has a few nice features for AIR development. It will allow you to create a project, setup a basic application descriptor file, run the application from the IDE and also package the application from the IDE. All with the click of a few buttons. This feature is pretty critical for myself and I'm sure for others.

I'm currently building at least one other project template ( for Zend Framework integration ) and we are adding some stuff into Komodo to allow for better support for things like AIR in the autocomplete system using a combination of a template bundled in an extension. If you have any questions or need some help getting started, let me know.

Somewhat obfuscated fact: if your Komodo extension has a directory in it called 'project-templates', you can add templates into there and have them become available to users that have the extension installed. Your file system layout would look like this:

In the 'new project from template' dialog, you would see the 'Zend Framework' category and the project template inside that. The folder / category is arbitrary, but it *has* to be there.

The power of this is that you can bundle your templates with an extension that may also contain other functionality, or dialogs that can be run with chrome privileges.

Some of both. Built-in project templates would be nice (though I may put one of those together myself and release it if I start using Komodo for AIR apps). Integration with debugging would be cool, though I don't know how possible that is or even how capable AIR's debugging tools are.

I've just started playing with AIR and the ability to create a new project and have the app.xml file generated and such and toolbox code for building apps would be nice. Nothing super complex, just cool bullet points to add in favor of Komodo :-)

We do not have any set plans for integrating with Adobe Air.

What support/integration would you like to see Komodo have for working with Adobe Air applications? I.e. provide code completion support for the JavaScript Air API, syntax checking, ...

What are the plans for integrating with Adobe AIR? I can't seem to find anything via Google for it, but it seems like a logical next step Komodo/OpenKomodo.
