Going back to 5.8 does indeed solve the problem

I did the same, uninstalled 5.10 and installed 5.8. PPM GUI works fine for this version. Hopefully the 5.10 version can be fixed soon.

I took the easy way out

I too had a very similar problem yesterday on OS X 10.4.11 and ActivePerl 5.10. The PPM UI came up fine and I could install modules etc. BUT if I tried to scroll the list or click on the scrollbar, it crashed. I decided to uninstall 5.10 and installed 5.8 instead. PPM GUI works no longer crashes. However, I do have other issues with an "area" with modles installed that I can not delete. I think this is due to a much earlier install. I can not figure out how to solve that problem and will be creating a new thread for this issue.

PPM GUI crashing

I just installed ActivePerl and are trying to launch PPM. The GUI fires up and shows up fine. It synchronizes the database and all installed packages are shown. But when I go to do anything, like list all packages, the program crashes and the mac os x box "The application perl quit unexpectedly."

Looking at the report one can send to Apple (the full log is attached):

PID: 7090
Thread: 0
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xa07c5000

Does anyone know what is causing this? Is my ActivePerl installation corrupt?
